June 7 - 11 1999 trip to Westport near Ft. Bragg, Mendocino

Lorrie and I rented a cottage on a cliff in Westport.
Good morning Lorrie!  The view from the window overlooks the cliff.

The fireplace in the living room and the bright light from the kitchen window:

The view looking southwest from the kitchen window:

The view looking northwest from the kitchen window:

The view looking northwest from the deck:

From the deck, this is a view of The Lost Coast.  Shelter Cove is at the base of the mountains that you can
barely see in the far distance.  Our cottage was the last house on the coast until Shelter Cover.

Looking southwest from the deck:

We had great weather everyday with clear skys and warm sun in the afternoons.

Here's where we spent most of the first 3 days:

In spite of liberal application of sunblock 45, we still got sunburned.

On the 4th day we explored the beach a short walk north of us.

Here's where a creek runs into the ocean.

Here's Highway 1 going south from Westport to Ft. Bragg.

This is the harbor in Ft. Bragg.

This is the coast near the town of Mendocino where we stopped on our way home.

This is a few miles south of Mendocino, looking north.

Lorrie insisted on feeding this seagull.
